So, after months of behind the scenes work, extensive organising, hours of meetings, bucket talk and the occasional fist fight, the day of Total Rewall started on Friday December 4th in the infamous Leake Street Tunnel, Waterloo, once the home of Banksy’s Cans Festival.
All 32 of us involved in the exhibition descended to the tunnel from high noon onwards on a chilly, crisp winter afternoon, spending the day setting up our photographs and adding last minute touches. With the focus very much on collaboration, not only between the photographers organising the exhibition and taking of photos (of places graffers normally would not be able to work on) – but also with street artists themselves, a vital part of the cog.

From 6pm onwards the street artists began to come down and work their illustrative canned magic on the photographs, and fun was started to be had by all; the champagne and Red Stripe certainly aided this, as well as with the numbing of increasingly cold body parts. The event proved to be a success, with some stunning works of live art being created in front of a satisfied audience.
A big thank you to all the street artists that came down on the night and contributed, with some fantastic pieces created by SNUB23, dickcheese and Brighton-based stencil artist Hutch, as well as an epic piece by drastik. PLUS, another large-size thank you to dumbleberry, who ended up in the tunnel and spontaneously created a kick-ass giant Total Rewall logo for us, as photographed above.
Keep watch of this blog over the coming days, as videos and further waffle will be put up of the event. The documentation of the images is continuing in the tunnel (well, ’til tomorrow), as the evolution/deterioration becomes more apparent – also appearing on www.totalrewall.com
In the mean time, enjoy the following images…
